General Discusion / If you can't re-home a pigeon is there any benefit to buying an older pigeon?

Sorry for the newbie question. I'm writing a screenplay on Homer's and trying to clarify some things.

Can pigeons be re-homed at all? Someone told me they can't be, after they have an established home.

And if someone were to buy a champion homer, is there any benefit to keeping it? Doesn't it already have an established home? Could it still be used for breeding in SOMEONE ELSE'S loft, or would it just try to fly back home?

I was wondering how big of a loft I need for 10 pair of racing homers? I was thinking maybe a 4x8 that is 7 feet tall? Thoughts?

i have just started with homing pigeons i have 12 that has been flying
when i let them out they circle the house for about 5 minutes then they disappear and do not come back and trap until its dark.
I have tried taking them a couple of miles and the same thing happened.
any idea how to solve this problem?

Take it slow and be sure they like they're loft and are used to being handled. Let them hang out on the landing board and train them to trap with seed rewards.

when someone sends you a private message, there should be a button at the top that says "send reply" The only time I can think of that there would not be is if they had tried to delete it before you had read it.
